History
Solstice began with a vision, a vision that the world really could be powered by sustainable energy. Founder and CEO James Shomar developed the Solstice concept during his undergraduate mechanical engineering years at Syracuse University where he began simply by attacking the problems stalling the integration of sustainable energy. The goal: to revolutionize our current energy market by developing a solar power system which actually makes financial sense.
Chief Executive Officer: James Shomar
As the CEO of Solstice, Shomar is responsible for all marketing, communications, business development, and the general operations of the company. Shomar's experience includes working as an engineering project manager form Verizon Telecom in charge of the $40million Fiber To The Cell Site project for Upstate New York. He was also the Founder and President of the Syracuse University Formula SAE Race Team, responsible for the marketing, public relations, fund raising, and project management, for the development of formula SAE race cars. Shomar has also worked as Test Engineer for Saab Sensis working on ground surface radar system and Carrier Transicold working on the NaturaLine and PrimeLine High-Efficiency container systems. Shomar has worked as a business consultant for Liftech Equipment Companies and completed research on a piezoelectric vehicle recharging system at Syracuse University. Shomar has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Entrepreneurship from Syracuse University. Shomar is a Kaufman Entrepreneurship Engagement Fellow.
Chief Technology Officer : Griffin Kearney
Solstice is pleased to announce Griffin Kearney as an addition to the Solstice Team. Kearney will come on board as the new Chief Technology Officer responsible for all engineering and product development for the company. Kearney has completed research in acoustic jet noise refraction due to fluid velocity fields as well as developing program analysis of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Kearney also served a two year stint with Northrop Grumman Corp as a software engineer developing ballistic missile defense simulations. . Kearney graduated summa cum lade with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering minoring in Mathematics from Syracuse University and is currently pursuing a dual Masters in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Mathematics from Syracuse. In 2012 he was presented with Syracuse's highest honor for students becoming a University Scholar.
